Introduction

This document discusses the techniques and technology used to allow law firms to provide Client, Matter, Timekeeper, Matter Assignment, and Time Entry data to Paladin, to support the operation of the Paladin Insights application.

Overview of Paladin Insights

Paladin Insights is a secure, web-based platform that integrates a law firm's internal data into an intuitive, robust analytics platform for tracking, analyzing, and reporting on pro bono cases. Paladin is accessible only to users that have been authenticated within the firm’s identity service provider.

Data Security

Paladin Insights is a hosted solution that employs a range of security measures to ensure the protection of your data. These measures include robust encryption both in transit and at rest, advanced access controls, and continuous monitoring for potential threats. We adhere to industry standards and best practices, such as NIST and FedRAMP guidelines, to maintain the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of your information. Our focus is to provide a platform that not only delivers powerful insights but also maintains the highest level of data security. For more detailed information, please refer to our Information Security Policy.

Data Transfer Security

Data files are uploaded by the Firm to a secure location on a Paladin server. Each Firm will be provided with an upload URL, unique login credentials, and corresponding folder locations. These files are only accessible by Paladin administrators.

All files transferred from the Firm to Paladin use SFTP (SSH/Secure File Transfer Protocol). This protocol uses the Secure Shell (SSH) network protocol to exchange data over a secure channel, encrypting both authentication information and data files.

Technical Support

Product documentation, FAQ’s, and other support articles are available at help.joinpaladin.com. The Paladin support team can be reached via the embedded chat button in the bottom right of the application, or by emailing [email protected].

To upload data files to Paladin for processing, complete the following steps:

  1. Write a script or code to extract time and case information into 6 CSV (comma-separated values) files, as defined in the next section (General Data Load File Specifications):
    1. TKP - Timekeepers
    2. TIM - Time Entries
    3. REF - Reference
    4. MTR - Matters
    5. CLI - Clients
    6. ASM - Assignments
  2. Compress all of these files into a single ZIP archive
  3. Write a routine to upload the ZIP archive to the SFTP site sftp.joinpaladin.com at the path /insights using the unique credentials provided by Paladin staff. Files may also be sent manually using an SFTP client such as FileZilla using the same credentials.
